Distance of Loop: 0.3 mile (0.5 km) Elevation Change: 50 feet (15 meters) Average Hiking Time: 30 minutes This easy, relaxing trail circles a low hill with excellent views of the moutain peaks surrounding the Chisos Basin, and a view through the window. Benches along the trail offer a place to sit and enjoy a classic Big Bend sunset. Dogs and other pets are not allowed on any trails in the park.

Accessibility The Window View trail is paved and wheelchair accessible. It slopes gently downward to the end of the loop before returning back up to the start. The trail begins from the paved parking lot near the Chisos Mountains Lodge and Chisos Basin Visitor Center.

When to go: hiking seasons vary widely with elevation, latitude, and snowpack. Through-hikers traditionally start the AT in March-April (Springer northbound) and the PCT in late April (Campo northbound). High-elevation western trails (CDT, JMT, Wonderland) generally aren't passable until July.
