North South Trail

As the name suggests, this trail runs from the North to South end of Naval Live Oaks. The trail can be started from the end of Reservation Road, but this area is residential and parking is extremely limited. A side trail at the beginning will take visitors down to the Pensacola Bay.
If completed as an out-and-back, the trail is 2.2 miles total and takes visitors all the way to Highway 98. The trail also intersects with the Beaver Pond and Andrew Jackson Trails for visitors wishing to extend their hike. Duration: 1.5-2 hrs

Plan your hike
Maps + permits: long-distance trails like this often require permits for through-hiking, backcountry camping, or specific sections (especially in National Parks). Check with the maintaining organisation listed above and the relevant land manager before booking travel.

When to go: hiking seasons vary widely with elevation, latitude, and snowpack. Through-hikers traditionally start the AT in March-April (Springer northbound) and the PCT in late April (Campo northbound). High-elevation western trails (CDT, JMT, Wonderland) generally aren't passable until July.
