Old Borrow Pit Trail
in Florida
If completed round-trip, the Old Borrow Pit Trail is 1.8 miles total. This there-and-back trail begins at a trailhead behind residential property at Reservation Road and leads to Highway 98. There is no parking available at the trailhead as the area is residential, but visitors may park at the dirt pulloff further down Reservation Road.
Sand from the borrow pit was used for the construction of U. S. Highway 98. The trail is sandy with little shade, so be sure to bring appropriate footwear and water. It also intersects with the Old Quarry, Beaver Pond, and Andrew Jackson Trails for visitors wishing to extend their hike.

Plan your hike
Maps + permits: long-distance trails like this often require permits for through-hiking, backcountry camping, or specific sections (especially in National Parks). Check with the maintaining organisation listed above and the relevant land manager before booking travel.
Water + supplies: water sources vary seasonally on most U.S. trails. Carry a filter and consult current trail-condition reports — through-hiker journals (PCT-L, AT Reddit, etc.) and the maintaining organisation publish regular updates.
When to go: hiking seasons vary widely with elevation, latitude, and snowpack. Through-hikers traditionally start the AT in March-April (Springer northbound) and the PCT in late April (Campo northbound). High-elevation western trails (CDT, JMT, Wonderland) generally aren't passable until July.
